Robert J. Sullivan, Jr.
Class of 1956
Contributors
Bobby Sullivan personifies the school spirit of HHS. From his high school days until the present he is Harrisonburg High’s greatest fan. He was the student government president his senior year and recalls that in his campaign speech he stated that his goal was for HHS to have “the greatest school spirit in the Valley.” That same year his classmates voted him as the student with the “Most School Spirit”.
For more than fifty years Bob has collected, and continues to collect, articles about the HHS athletic program. He maintains them in a collection of scrapbooks that now totals 23. Much of his collection represents information not available elsewhere, as team and individual records were not routinely maintained in earlier years. Along with his role as HHS’ Greatest Fan, Bob also served as Harrisonburg’s City Planner from 1965 until 1991 and also as an adjunct professor of Political Science at JMU from 1970 until 2006.
