William N. Johnson, Sr.

William Johnson was a three year member of the Blue Streak basketball team from 1966 – 1968. He was the starting center on the 1967 team that won 14 games. As a junior that year he was voted 1st team All-District. As a senior in 1968, William scored 365 points, an average of 20.3 per game, and averaged 13 rebounds per game. He was again named 1st team All-District as well as All-Tournament on the Blue Streak team that lost by a single point to Blacksburg in the state finals.
After graduating from HHS, William attended Bluefield State College in West Virginia on a basketball scholarship. He completed his studies at Bluefield with a major in business. William joined the United States Air Force where he served for 20 years, retiring in 1993. His many assignments included the Air Force Intelligence Service at the Pentagon and the National War College Institute for National Strategic Studies. William and his family reside in Fort Washington, Maryland where he operates two family businesses. He is involved in many community and church activities.
