punter, and was selected to play in the VHSL All-Star game following his senior year.
David was also a 2 year starter and captain of the Blue Streak basketball team where he was the leading rebounder and 2nd leading scorer his senior year. David’s greatest achievements came on the baseball diamond. He was a 3 year letterman and 2 time All-District selection as catcher on the baseball team, leading the Streaks to the regional tournament in his junior year and the tri-district championship his senior year.
After graduation, David continued his athletic career at James Madison University. He played 1 year of football and was a 4 year starter as catcher on the baseball team, where he started 139 of 158 games. During that time the team won 75% of its games and David was the first permanent captain of the team in 1977 & ’78. He continued his baseball career after graduation by playing 6 years in the Rockingham County and Valley leagues. David began his business career working in the family real estate development business. He now manages the family’s commercial real estate company and operates a large commercial cow-calf farming operation in Rockingham County.
