LORAN NICOL

From 1988-1992, Loran Nicol was a 4-year member of the HHS Wrestling team that dominated the valley district under coach John Seal (HoF 2015) and continued in 1992 under coach Art Ausberry. During Loran’s tenure the Streaks were 3-time Valley District champions, finishing in the top 6 in regionals each year and the top 8 in states 3 times.
Loran’s individual accomplishments were exceptional. He was a 3-time Valley District champion and a regional champion. In 1991 he won district, regional and state championships. During his senior year of 1992, Loran experienced one loss in the state semifinals to place third. In his junior and senior years Loran’s record was 59 wins and 3 losses. During the senior awards banquet, Loran was awarded the Claude E. and Frances A. Warren scholarship, named in honor of Coach Claude Warren, (HoF 2008).
Upon graduation from HHS, Loran enrolled at Brigham Young University and wrestled his freshman year. He then enrolled at the University of Utah. After a 2 year religious (LDS) mission assignment he joined with former teammate and fellow HoF inductee Todd Benner in a business partnership which is now in its 21st year. Loran, his wife Amy and their 4 children live in Layton, Utah. Their daughter Mckenzie is a Division I volley ball player at Southern Utah University.
